They want to stay home. We make that possible.
Owner-led home care across Brockton and 90+ towns across the South Shore and southeastern Massachusetts. Care can begin in 24 to 48 hours.
Care shaped around one person, not a package
Every family arrives somewhere different. Some need a few afternoons of company; some need someone in the house overnight. Rides to appointments are included in every service.
Rates apply across our whole service area. Mileage applies when the caregiver drives their own car.
Companion & emotional support
Conversation, meals shared, a walk outside, someone who notices when a day is a hard one.
Personal care
Bathing, dressing, grooming and mobility — handled with the dignity anyone would want.
Respite care
For the family caregiver. Rest is not a luxury, and you are allowed to take it.
Dementia & complex care
Trained caregivers, the same faces each week, and a plan for sundowning and wandering.
24/7 & overnight care
Awake through the night, so someone is present at 3am when it matters. Live-in is quoted after we see the household.
What would care actually cost?

Six things most agencies won't give you
We built this list out of what families told us was missing when they called everyone else first.
Our prices are on the website
Nearly every agency makes you call to find out what care costs. Ours are published above, and they don't change because of who's asking.
You know who's coming
We tell you who your caregiver is and introduce them before their first shift — and if it isn't the right fit, you say so and we change them. No stranger simply appears at the door.
A three-hour minimum
Most agencies won't come for less than four. If two hours on a Tuesday is what your family needs, that shouldn't be impossible to buy.
Updates you actually receive
After each visit, a short written update goes out to whoever in the family wants it. If you live in Arizona, you'll still know how Tuesday went.
We go where others won't
Plenty of agencies won’t drive to Halifax, Plympton or Carver. We built our schedule around the towns others turn down.
The owner answers the phone
Amalia started Healing Hearts so people could be cared for at home. She's the one you'll talk to, not a queue.

Marta Maria · GoogleThe questions families actually ask
These are the ones that come up on almost every first phone call. See all 28 questions.
Does Medicare pay for this?
Generally no. Medicare covers short-term skilled care ordered by a doctor after a hospital stay — not ongoing help with bathing, meals or company. Healing Hearts is private pay — families pay us directly, with no insurance billing in the middle. That keeps things simple and lets us start care fast. If you're unsure how you'll fund care, ask us anyway; we'll talk it through honestly and point you toward options if we're not the right fit.
Will we have the same caregiver every visit?
That's the goal, and it's the single biggest predictor of whether home care works. We assign a primary caregiver and keep them on your schedule. When they're sick or on vacation you'll have a named backup you've already met, not whoever was free.
What if we don't like the caregiver?
Tell us and we'll change them. No awkwardness, no fee, no explanation needed. Some pairings just don't fit, and pretending otherwise helps nobody.
How fast can care start?
Usually 24 to 48 hours from the first phone call, including hospital and rehab discharges. If it will take longer in your town, we'll say so on the first call rather than let you find out later.
Is there a minimum, and do I have to sign a contract?
A three-hour minimum per visit — lower than the four hours most agencies require. There's no long-term contract and no cancellation penalty. You can change or stop the schedule with reasonable notice.
What can a caregiver not do?
We provide non-medical care. Our caregivers can remind your loved one to take their medication and hand them the bottle, but they cannot administer it, give injections, or perform wound care — that requires a licensed nurse. We'll tell you plainly if what you need is outside what we're allowed to do, and help you find who can.
My loved one refuses help. What then?
This is the most common call we get, and it's rarely stubbornness — it's usually fear of losing independence. We start small and unthreatening: a ride, a shared meal, company for an afternoon. Nobody arrives in scrubs announcing they're here to take over. Most families find acceptance grows over a few weeks.
I live out of state. How will I know they're okay?
After every visit the caregiver writes a short update — what they did, how the day went, anything worth flagging. We send it to whoever in the family asks to be on the list, so your siblings can see it too. If something concerns us, you get a phone call the same day rather than a note.
Do you serve my town?
We cover Brockton and 90+ towns across the South Shore and southeastern Massachusetts. That includes rural towns other agencies turn down because they're hard to staff. Use the ZIP checker at the top of this page, or just call and ask.
Do you offer live-in care?
Yes, but we quote it after an assessment rather than publishing a rate, because live-in depends entirely on the household — how many hours are truly active, whether there's a private room, and what the nights look like. Many families who ask for live-in are better served by awake overnight care, where someone is genuinely alert at 3am. We'll tell you which one actually fits.
What happens at the first visit?
It's free and it takes about an hour. Amalia comes to the house, meets your loved one, looks at how they move through their own home, and asks what a good day and a bad day look like. You get a written care plan and a firm rate. There is no obligation and nobody will push you.
