What we pay
Your rate depends on the kind of care you're doing, not on how well you negotiate.

- $0.50 raise at six months, $1.00 at twelve. Automatic, not something you have to ask for.
- Holidays paid at time and a half — the same premium we charge the family, passed straight to you.
- Mileage reimbursed at the IRS standard rate when you use your own car.
- Travel time between clients is paid. Most agencies don't do this. We think making you drive for free is how you lose good people.
What it's actually like here
You're not a name on a rota
We assign you to a small number of clients and keep you there. You'll know their routines, their families, and what a bad day looks like — instead of walking into a stranger's house every shift.
Amalia knows who you are
This is a small, owner-led agency. The person who hires you is the person who answers the phone at 6am when something goes wrong. There's no regional manager you've never met.
Schedules that fit real life
School pickup, a second job, a class on Tuesdays. Tell us what you can work and we'll build around it rather than sending a schedule and hoping.
We back you up
The agency is insured and bonded, so you are covered on every shift. And if a client or family treats you badly, we handle it — caregivers here are not expected to absorb abuse to keep an account.
Training that's paid
Dementia training, transfer technique, safety. On the clock, not on your own time.
Work close to home
We cover rural towns other agencies skip, so if you live somewhere that's always been "out of area," you may finally have work nearby.

- Reliability above everything. A missed shift means someone doesn't get out of bed.
- A valid driver's licence, insurance, and a car you can use for work
- Authorisation to work in the United States
- A clean CORI background check
- Patience, and the ability to be kind on a hard day
- CNA, HHA or PCA certification for personal care roles — companion roles need no certification at all
No experience? We hire for companion work without it. It's the best way into this field, and several of our aides started there.
Where you'd work
Tell us your town and we'll match you to clients nearby.
Bilingual caregivers are especially welcome — Portuguese, Cape Verdean Creole, Haitian Creole and Spanish speakers are in real demand across our service area.
The honest part
We tell families what we can't do. Same rule applies here.
- This work is physically demanding. Transfers, standing, driving between towns.
- It is emotionally demanding. You will get attached to people, and some of them will die.
- Hours can be uneven while we build your caseload. We'll be straight with you about what we can offer before you accept.
- We are a small agency. We don't have a big benefits package yet, and we won't pretend otherwise.
- Some clients live in rural areas. The drive is real, which is exactly why we pay for it.
